IELTS PREPARATION COURSE 

For students wishing to maximise their performance in the IELTS exam. This course will operate four days per week. In addition to four (4) hours of class time there will be additional hours  of written homework and class preparation.

In addition to your English language program, students will have the opportunity to join a variety of extra-curricular English and business related classes delivered face-to-face in the classroom or online via the web. Business workshops cover topics that enable your practical and professional English language skills from resume writing, interview techniques as well as developing your own personal brand.

 

IELTS PREPARATION

This is a practical workshop for students who are preparing to take the IELTS test. It runs once a week and covers all 4 macro skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. IELTS prep workshops are voluntary and can be accessed at no extra charge for students from our language or VET programs. Small class sizes ensure your experience is first rate.

ENTERPRISE SKILLS

Our enterprise skills program comprises a suite of over 100 short online courses from the ‘must know’ to the ‘good to know’ through to the ‘just looks really interesting’. You can learn more about the principles of business communication, team work, marketing, project management, and negotiation tactics as well as stress releasing techniques like mindfulness and personal happiness. With 24/7 access, our learning management portal it is a convenient way to learn on or off campus.

JOB HUNT

This is a practical workshop where your teacher provides valuable insights on getting work in Sydney and how to write the perfect resume in English. If you want your resume to be read then you need to come to this class. Students also develop verbal and body language skills through job interview role plays and becoming aware of modern day interview question techniques.

BUSINESS START-UP

There are several workshops on how to start your own business delivered by our entrepreneurial and business advisory centre. Students are free to join and get first-hand advice and guidance before starting out on their own business ventures. The entrepreneurial program covers business planning and finance for all entrepreneurs and for those wanting an Amazon experience we can show you how to set up and manage an on-line retail web site. All workshops are hosted by trainers with extensive industry experience and is the first step to a hugely successful career.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEVELS

ELEMENTARY

At the Elementary level you will learn the basics of grammar such as adjectives, verbs and prepositions and the simple tenses. You will learn the vocabulary needed to have a conversation in common everyday situations such as shopping, mealtimes, catching public transport and using polite requests. Introducing and talking about yourself as well as being able to ask someone simple questions is what you will be able to do confidently when you complete this level.

PRE-INTERMEDIATE

At the Pre-Intermediate level you will continue to learn the basics of grammar such as adverbs and phrasal verbs and more tenses. You will learn the vocabulary needed to have a conversation in situations such as talking about interests, daily routines and types of jobs. You will be able to talk about events in the past and the future with more confidence.

INTERMEDIATE

At the Intermediate level you will learn advanced grammatical structures such as compound nouns, idioms and the perfect tenses. You will learn vocabulary for job seeking, giving an opinion about different topics and be more confident to hold a conversation with native speakers. You will also learn to give more detailed descriptions and recounts of a story.

UPPER INTERMEDIATE

At the Upper Intermediate level you will learn the very advanced grammatical structures to write a formal job application, a letter of complaint or a newspaper article. You will also be able to express your ideas in a variety of situations and on a wide range of topics. Reading and writing different text types are developed at this level.

ADVANCED

At the Advanced level you will further improve your language skills learning to deal confidently with different text types such as fiction, newspapers and magazines. The course will strengthen you use of English with a wide range of exercises and activities to galvanize your grammatical and vocabulary knowledge across reading, writing, listening and speaking.
