Academic (preferred): • Certificate II in Accounting or Other relevant qualification • Completed Year 11 or overseas equivalent

MODULES

Module 1 - Financial Services

This unit describes the skills and knowledge to understand and apply industry and organisational procedures to day-to-day work in the financial services industry. Students will also learn current regulation around workplace health and safety (WHS) and environmentally sustainable workplace practices.

Module 2 – Accounts Administration

In this module students will learn the skills and knowledge required to design and produce various business documents and publications. It includes plan, draft and finalise a document by using a range of functions on a variety of computer applications. Students will also name, store, present files for use in client files.

Module 3 - Managing Finances

Students will learn to prepare and process routine financial documents, prepare journal entries, post journals to ledgers and extract a trial balance and interim reports. Students will also learn routine financial calculations and transactions such as GST, simple interest, compound interest, basic loan calculations and depreciation schedules.

Module 4 – Ledgers

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to reconcile and monitor financial accounts receivable systems, identify bad and doubtful debts and plan a recovery action, and remit payments to sundry creditors. Students will also learn the skills and knowledge to process payroll from provided data using manual and computerised payroll systems.

Module 4 – Business Planning

Students will learn to develop an integrated business plan for achieving business goals and objectives, students will provide for finance, marketing and provision of products or services to facilitate all business goals and objectives. Students will be required to use spreadsheet software to complete business planning tasks and produce complex documents.
