The qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of junior administrative positions who perform a range of mainly routine tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge in a defined context. Individuals in these roles generally work under direct supervision.

Module 1 - The Australian Workplace

In this module students will learn about working in the Australian business environment by understanding employee and employer rights and responsibilities. Students will also be introduced to basic Human Resources by understanding the organisational chart and roles and responsibilities of staff.

Module 2 – Digital Management 1

In this unit students will consider and develop a set of simple policy and procedures required for their own imaginary business to describe their business processes. Then, through a series of workplace scenarios, students will design templates and forms to collect information from their customers or other business stakeholders. Students will then process and file the information away using cloud based file management technology.

Module 3 – Website design

In this module students will develop a website for a business using web authoring tools to create, modify and test simple web pages. Students will create a site map, drop down menus as well as linking their website to other social media applications. When finished, students will have a ready to use website fit for small and medium size business.

Module 4 – Communication Skills

Students will learn the written, verbal and nonverbal communications skills required to work cooperatively with others by managing issues, problems and conflicts. Using innovative work place scenarios, students will enjoy developing ideas about better ways of doing things at work.

Module 5 – Social Media

In this module you will learn to set up and use Facebook for a business as well as designing advertisements and messages using graphics software. Students will have fun initiating social networking interaction. Students will also learn to send, receive and manage electronic mail (email), collaborate online using chat rooms, intranets and instant messaging as well as create and use spreadsheets and charts.

Module 6 – Software

Using MS Office applications are fundamental in managing your own work priorities and maintaining employment in any office environment. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to correctly create and use spreadsheets and charts using spreadsheet software and managing electronic mail (email), as well as collaborate online using chat rooms, intranets and instant messaging.

Module 7 – Career Skills

In this module students will develop the skills and knowledge of career planning and skills development in preparation for working in a range of jobs, this module also covers resume writing, cover letter writing and interview techniques in preparation for your important career job interviews.

Module 8 – Sustainable Work Practices

This module is about sustainable work practices. Students will acquire the skills and knowledge to assess the efficient use of resources in the workplace. Students will learn that by promoting more efficient consumption of natural resources, for example minimising paper waste and monitoring resource usage, they are also saving the environment.
